Welcome to NAX
Nax, known as the Balcony of the Valais, stands on a beautiful plateau overlooking the Rhône Valley, offering one of the most striking panoramas in central Valais. At the entrance of the Val d’Hérens, the region brings together the villages of Nax, Mase and Vernamiège, three authentic places shaped by light, tranquillity and living Alpine traditions.
The Mont-Noble area fascinates with its deep connection to nature: bright forests, peaceful alpine pastures, clear streams and spectacular viewpoints create an ideal setting to unwind. The summit of Mont-Noble, accessible by hiking, opens to a wide view of the famous 4,000-metre peaks of the Valais, from the Matterhorn to the Dent Blanche.
In winter, Nax Region unveils its serene charm. With its family-friendly ski area, the station offers gentle slopes ideal for children, beginners and all who enjoy relaxed skiing. The region is also perfect for snowshoeing, ski touring, winter walks and peaceful outdoor activities far from the crowds.
In summer, the area reveals all its natural softness. Panoramic trails, forest paths, routes to alpine pastures and family-friendly hikes invite visitors to discover a preserved environment. It is a beloved destination for hiking, mountain biking, paragliding, wildlife observation and golden-light evenings. The villages, with their granaries, chapels and traditional stone-and-wood houses, radiate calm and authenticity.
More than a destination, Nax – Mont-Noble Region is a place where time seems to slow down. Visitors come for the nature, the light, the quietness, the exceptional panorama, and stay for the warmth of its people and its unspoiled character.
