Welcome to Visp

Visp, known as Viège in French, is a vibrant town in Upper Valais located at 659 metres, at the crossroads of the valleys leading to Zermatt, Saas-Fee and the Lötschental. Modern, welcoming and filled with light, Visp combines a dynamic character with a charming historic centre and an ideal Alpine location.

The old town, with its pedestrian streets, historic buildings, sunny terraces and lively squares, reflects the authentic Valaisan way of life. The parish church of St. Martin, traditional houses, inner courtyards and local architecture highlight a discreet yet rich heritage.
At the same time, Visp is an important economic hub where tradition and modernity coexist harmoniously.

In summer, the town is an excellent base for exploring the surrounding mountains. Panoramic hiking trails, walks along the Vispa river, excursions into the Zermatt and Saas valleys, and the discovery of the Upper Valais vineyards offer a wide range of outdoor experiences. Nature lovers appreciate the immediate proximity to impressive Alpine landscapes.

In winter, Visp enjoys fast access to some of the most iconic ski resorts in Valais, notably Zermatt and Saas-Fee, both reachable in under an hour. This makes the town an ideal base for skiers and travellers seeking comfort, mobility and a wide choice of accommodation and services.

Lively, well-connected and surrounded by majestic peaks, Visp blends local traditions, urban energy and the calm of Alpine nature.
